IEEE EMB Student Club of IIT Kharagpur Commemorates IEEE's 125 Years of Engineering the Future

Book Donation Camp on Paljhari village near Salua, Kharagpur on September 12, 2009

Kharagpur - Saturday, September 12, 2009 -
IEEE EMB Student Club of IIT Kharagpur facilitates the service to the society with the potentials in terms of technical assistance, health camp and book donation camp to solve numerous problems to serve the society. The members of the club put their hands forward to serve the needy people so that they become a part of a developing nation. Aiming to these noble thoughts, the club successfully organized a Book Donation Camp on 12th September, 2009 at Paljhari village (7km interior from IIT Kharagpur).

The camp was organized under the joint venture of IEEE EMB Student Club of IIT Kharagpur and the Society of the School of Medical Science and Technology, IIT Kharagpur. Logistics management and local support was coordinated by the Premnagar Charitable Trust, Prem Bazar, Kharagpur.

The camp was operational during 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM with a total registration of 67 school students. We had initiated the program by distributing chocolates to the school children and thereafter spread out exercise books, pencils and erasers to the village children. The poor villagers were mostly belonging to primitive Lodha Sabhar tribe and Mahato caste. Due to lack of basic amenities like health and education, they were downtrodden and it was our humble effort to bridge the gap, a little.
